Daft Punk, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis Win Multiple Grammy Awards
The 56th Grammy Awards honored some of the best musicians and their works, with Daft Punk, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, as well as other artists, winning multiple awards.
French electronic duo Daft Punk won the awards for album of the year, best dance/electronic album and engineered album, and best pop/duo performance for their single, "Get Lucky," which also featured Pharrell Williams and Nile Rogers. The said song was also named record of the year, beating four other nominees in the category.
First-time Grammy winners Macklemore and Ryan Lewis took home the awards for best new artist, and three rap awards including best performance and best song for their single "Thrift Shop," and best album for "The Heist."
Upon accepting the award, rapper Macklemore, whose real name is Ben Haggerty, said, "First and foremost, I want to thank our fans, the people that got on us on this stage. Before there was any media, before there was any buzz … it spread organically through them, and without them, there would be no us."
Sir Paul McCartney, who performed at the event with fellow Beatles member Ringo Starr, has also won multiple awards including best rock song for "Cut Me Some Slack" together with Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear, best surround sound album and best music film for "Live Kisses."
