Just a week before the World Cup begins, the Greek soccer team continued their preparation up in Harrison, New Jersey, as part of the Road to Brazil series. On Thursday (June 5), they took to the field at the Red Bull Arena, just a day before their friendly match against Bolivia

Ten countries are participating in the Road to Brazil series, representing four continents -- Europe, Africa, North America and South America.

Fulham striker Kostas Mitroglu stretched and seemed relaxed. Mitroglu, who has barely played this year due to a knee injury, is still considered the Greek player to watch in Brazil. 'Mitrogoal' carries the Greek hopes of advancing past group stage as his goal scoring ability helped Greece qualify.

37-year-old Giorgos Karagounis, the Greek captain with 132 caps but who played only 14 times for Fulham this season, is also part of the Greece team that goes to Brazil. Karagounis, the oldest member of the squad and a Euro 2004 winner seldom plays a full game these days but his experience and undiminished passion can prove crucial as it did in last Euro 2012 group game against Russia, when he scored the winner.

Recalling the Euro win, Karagounis told Reuters he was looking forward to the team's performance at the upcoming World Cup. "Ten years is a long time. That was then, this is now. Things have changed but we always try for the best. We are ambitious and we're happy to go to the next stage and then we can see what else we can achieve," he said.
