Super Bowl XIV: Steelers 31 Rams 19 - MVP Steelers QB Terry Bradshaw
Becoming the first back-to-back Super Bowl MVP award winner since Bart Starr, Terry Bradshaw helped the Steelers recover from two deficits to win their fourth Super Bowl championship in six years, 31-19 over the Rams. Long touchdown passes to Lynn Swann and John Stallworth helped Bradshaw amass 309 yards passing as he completed 14 of 21 attempts. Bradshaw owned nearly every significant Super Bowl passing record following the win, including career yardage (932), touchdowns (nine) and passer rating (112.8). Sparked by the leadership of Bradshaw and a suffocating 'Steel Curtain' defense, Pittsburgh was the first team in NFL history to hoist four Vince Lombardi Trophies.
Sparked by the leadership of quarterback Terry Bradshaw and a suffocating "Steel Curtain" defense, Pittsburgh became the first team to win 4 Super Bowl Championships.
Long touchdown passes to Lynn Swann and John Stallworth helped Terry Bradshaw amass 309 yards passing as he completed 14 of 21 attempts.
Despite three interceptions by the Rams, Bradshaw kept his poise and brought the Steelers from behind twice in the second half. Trailing 13-10 at halftime, Pittsburgh went ahead 17-13 when Bradshaw hit Lynn Swann with a 47-yard touchdown pass after 2:48 of the third quarter.
On the Rams' next possession Vince Ferragamo, who completed 15 of 25 passes for 212 yards, responded with a 50-yard pass to Billy Waddy that moved Los Angeles from its 26 to the Steelers' 24. On the following play, Lawrence McCutcheon connected with Ron Smith on a halfback option pass that gave the underdog Rams a 19-17 lead.
But reality set in as the Steelers -- a team with as much patience as talent, struck quickly. On Pittsburgh's initial possession of the final period, Bradshaw lofted a 73-yard scoring pass to John Stallworth to put the Steelers in front 24-19. Franco Harris scored on a 1-yard run later in the quarter to seal the verdict. A 45-yard pass from Bradshaw to Stallworth was the key play in the drive to Harris's score.
The 31-19 victory was the Steelers' fourth in the Super Bowl victory in only six seasons.
Bradshaw, the game's most valuable player for the second straight year, set career Super Bowl records for most touchdown passes (9), most passing yards (932) and best passer rating (112.8).
Larry Anderson gave the Steelers excellent field position throughout the game with five kickoff returns for a record 162 yards.

While leading Pittsburgh to its second consecutive Super Bowl title, Terry Bradshaw became the first to earn back-to-back Most Valuable Player honors since Green Bay's Bart Starr in Super Bowl I and Super Bowl II.
In the 31-19 victory over the Rams, Bradshaw threw for 309 yards and two touchdowns, completing 14-of-21 passes. His totals in Super Bowl XIV made him the Super Bowl career leader in touchdown passes with nine and passing yards with 932.
Bradshaw twice rallied Pittsburgh from behind, including a 13-10 deficit at the half. Early in the third quarter, Bradshaw hit Lynn Swann with a 47-yard touchdown pass to retake the lead. After Los Angeles scored a touchdown, Bradshaw teamed with John Stallworth on a 73-yard score to take back the lead for good. It was the second consecutive Super Bowl in which the Bradshaw-Stallworth connection had combined for a long-bomb score as they teamed for a 75-yard touchdown in Super Bowl XIII.
On the drive toward the game-winning touchdown run by Franco Harris, Bradshaw hit Stallworth on a key 45-yard completion. The quarterback's exploits helped the Steelers become the first team to win four Super Bowls.
